The final list of venues has been announced: RWC 2015 website. Disappointed there's so many football stadiums on the list, also playing in Newcastle and not in Edinburgh seems ridiculous. |

Three games in Exeter, definitely got to get myself to one of those. |

I'll be disappointed if the football stadium in Leicester isn't sold out, as there was talk of Welford Rd being taken up to 28k. I don't really buy the dimensions argument. |

One game at the Manchester City Stadium. One game! MK Don's stadium gets three! And it's an England game too, so the chances of getting tickets will be virtually zero. MASSIVE fail. |

Orrel RU says hi. It's only been around since 1927. They played the Commonwealth games 7's at the same stadium and it was pretty much sold out for the 'name' sides although less so for the minnows. Mind you, I think the capacity was smaller then to be fair. There's not really the antipathy between league and union any more tbh. Would a league fan go to watch Union rather than league? No. would they go and watch union rather than nothing? Almost certainly. I think it's fair to have most of the rugby games at 'proper' RU venues - Twickenham or Kingsholm for example. But it was summed up for me when I heard an interview with an RFU bigwig who said 'we want to play the majority of games at specialist rugby venues, like the mIllenium stadium'. Errr.... There are only three specialist rugby grounds being used, and seven football grounds (I'm not counting cardiff as either). Why not Adams park rather than Villa park? And why not a game somewhere near Rugby? I suspect in fact they got the venues they could afford to pay for and they spent the vast chunk of the cash securing Wembley and the Olympic stadium to puff up their egos and for a few nice luxury days out for the board, and were then scrabbling around for what they could get in the provinces cheap. But the way they've spread them means quite a lot of people who want to go watch a world cup game won't be able to. |

Been through it ![]()
Well there's an obvious question - why are they playing games at the football ground in Leicester rather than the rugby ground in Leicester? |

Yes, because in contrast Wembley's so easy to get to. |

Apparently the pitch at Welford Rd isn't big enough. A particuarly stupid reason, as Leicester were planning on boosting capacity to just shy of the capacity at the football ground, and you don't have the fish-bowl atmosphere of the average football stadium. 25k spectators is plenty enough to be useful for group-stage matches, you'd think. |

Well it is destination England... (understandable to choose the Millenium stadium as it's close to laaandan and it's practically built for Rugby though) Initially I was surprised it was at St James instead of Kingston Park, but St James has far superior transport links being in the centre and if they can handle the toon fans trying to trash their own city after losing a derby game at home they can handle some rugby fans ![]() I'll definitely be trying to get tickets for Scotland vs South Africa though, no doubt we'll get thrashed but it's good to watch the Spring Boks, and it's on the weekend after my birthday ![]()
I've found union played much more than league, one fairly minor team in the NE compared to the Falcons I think group wise South Africa and New Zealand have the easiest groups, A and D will be very interesing to watch though |
