I'm having a bit of a sort out and wondered if my early issues of Custompc are worth anything? I have issue 2 (Nov 2003) - present day My options are ebay, take them to a car boot I'm doing in the next few weeks or recycle them I've looked on ebay but they only have fairly new issues that don't appear to be selling Cheers Rich |

I looked into this when wondering what to do with old MacUser magazines. To me it seemed as though technology moves so fast that older mags are just irrelevant now and I recycled them. |

Yes that's what was running through my mind, is interesting looking back 10 years in PC history though - Athlon 64 are we ready for the 64-BIT Revolution and the Radeon 9800 Pro GPU... classic ![]() |

Issue 1 might be worth a little bit. I used to collect them, but then they started taking up too much room so I got rid of most of them. Not a full collection as I was missing issues 2-7 anyway. I still have issue 1 though. |

Lol reminds me about the Computer Buyer magazines we used to get when we were looking for computers. This was back in the day when the 486 reigned supreme. The cover disc on the first mag was Match of the Day. I used to love the back page columnist (was it John Diamond? Not sure). Had five years of issues from 1993 to 1998. Learnt loads about computing from it. Ironically, at the time I decided not to bother learning about networks. Now I find myself wishing I had. We kept them until about five years later when I chucked them away. I remember the reviews were properly written ie over 4-5 pages and was broken down into sections about chassis build, quality of peripherals, etc. When I needed a new computer in 2003/4, I bought another issue and hated the new layout with two columns per page with a tiny review in each one. I bought custompc magazines a while later but didn't really get into the building/modding thing as much as I'd hoped. Uni student meant little money for frivolities like buying a dremel. |

The PC magazines were also huge then. When there was a recession some magazines closed and the rest slimmed down. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk. |

Oh definitely. I think it was around Issue 50 when Computer Buyer because shorter, narrower and thinner. |

In the case of Custom PC magazine, I think issue 0 is the one that's worth anything. I don't keep mine anymore. Well, not all of them - I tend to keep the last three or four years, and send the rest to recycling.
That started before the recession kicked in - PCPro magazine almost halved in thickness. It started with thinner, poorer quality paper and then we saw a reduction in content. I cancelled my sub five or six years ago. I think I still have the first 12 issues of Maxim, in a box up in the loft. |

Likewise. I miss some of the editorials, but they're not worth the cover price any more ![]() |
