That kicked things off in What Are You Listening To? thread. The aim of this thread is to analyse what makes a crackin' intro and to enjoy some of our faves. Youtube links please. Rest of the song can be crap. One of my favourites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsujXw267XQ Go! |

Some great ones so far but that's an especially good shout! I don't think that song is half as good without that intro to set things up. I think this one really falls apart after the intro, but what an intro! Sex Pistols - Pretty Vacant |

If we're talking about Smiths records, I actually prefer the intro to 'How Soon Is Now?'. Just love the wail in the guitar. Otherwise I'd nominate 'Angel' by Massive Attack (whenever I hear that in a TV show, I know something horrific is about to happen) 'Love Like Blood' by Killing Joke 'Wish You Dead' by Curve (almost entirely for the bassline) 'Fools Gold' by The Stone Roses (best use of the funky drummer sample ever) 'Doctor?' by Orbital (just BECAUSE although it's a bit hard to say where the intro stops on that one ![]() P. Machinery by Propaganda Holy [LIFTED], I'm off on a youtube-fueled 80's music video binge. |
