Post subject:  Anyone familar with tax?

As I am now in a job that I have to pay tax for the first time whereas my previous jobs were all tax free and illegal I get a HM revenue and customs brown envelope letter to me and dont understand it

says: "I have reviewed your income tax liability for the year shown above to see wherer you have underpaid or overpaid tax for that year. My calculation is given on the enclosed sheet. The calculacion result is given near the foot of that page. The "see notes column refers to the numbered notes in the guidance leaflet "understanding ur tax calculation" which I also enclose. A payable order for this amount has been issued to you seperatly

Your personal allowances exceed your taxable income, no tax is due"

anyone can translate?

on another bit of paper it says on a secion "Income tax chargeable" "this is how much tax is due on the remaining income" "B Tax Chargeable = 0.00

under that a "Adjustments" and "Tax overpaid" 256.60 "Repayment due 256.60"

so this means I have paid too much tax or not enough? I owe them more or they owe me? confused very much

It basically means that you have paid too much tax and are getting a rebate. So look out for a cheque for £256.60 or a bigger pay packet next month, which will have an extra £256.60 in it.
