No need for raincoats for a lot of this summer. Some nice beaches in that list.

Slapton's near-ish to me.
It's great, they used to drag race down there in the 60s. On the one side of the road there's a brackish water of special scientific interest, the other is the very pebbly beach.
Interesting history there too - hundreds of US servicemen drowned there practicing for D Day, and the whole thing was covered up.

And yes, it does get busy in the summer. Good fish n chips too.

The phrase 'desolate beaches' gets my mind working.

I've been to Banburgh. It wasn't that desolate!

I've been to both Bamburgh and Beadnell.

I've a feeling they'd call where you went Seahouses, which is just a touch south and a little bit bigger, but you can still see the castle (8-)

Anybody else notice that whoever created the slug can't count?

There's been some serious warming going on in some of those photos.

Yes, Chesil is nice. I've been to 5 of them in total.

It doesn’t take much to keep the hordes away. Barafundle Bay in Pembrokeshire, Wales, is only a half kilometre stroll from the nearest car park, but the rough pathway wards off pushchairs, buggies and their bratty, noisy occupants nonetheless.
