I currently have a bottle of Captain Morgan's and another of Absolut's vodka - neither have been touched in weeks despite being off work! Always was an infrequent drinker (I've been known to go off it for years at a time ), but apparently consumption is down in general; so what about you?

I've never been much of a drinker TBH and since my new girlfriend doesn't drink, I haven't missed alcohol at all.

I don't drink often at all*. I'll occasionally buy a bottle of wine, but I'll only drink a couple of glasses per day when I do buy some.
*This weekend, has been an odd exception - I had a large glass of whisky on Friday night and I've had a couple of bottles of beer today.

No where near as much. As a student I drank every day, and I could put a lot of whisky away if I wanted to.
Note I'll have a shot or two once a month at most. I certainly can't drink a lot these days either.

Stopped drinking 10 years ago
Just went off it and I don't miss it at all. Personally I feel much better without it.

Like Ernie I can go without. When I was cycling to work it was a no drink routine. I had a one clear day between drinking and cycling or driving, so pretty much no drink. It also meant that whenever the police breathalyser was used by me I was absolutely clean.
Though I am drinking a lot compared to my past. I guzzle a bottle of Scotch over a couple of months. I make it into Baileys and so half a bottle will easily last me a couple of weeks without much effort. So in terms of units of alcohol per day I barely break one per day. I did buy a couple of bottles of Speckled Hen which will sit in the cupboard for months.
I had my wild drinking days when I was a teenager. I have friends who still like a tipple.

My landlord bought me a bottle of Scotch for Christmas... in 2006, I moved out in 2007 and it is still in a decanter on top of the sideboard.
I drink maybe 2 or 3 bottles of wine a year, if that. Some years, I've gone without drinking anything, other times I've drunk regularly.

Definitely not as much as I used to, but I drink differently now. I think I'm what you would describe as a binge drinker. I go a month or more without a single drop, then we'll have JJW and KW over for the evening and put away a bottle of wine each, a few bottles of beer, the best part of a bottle of dark rum and occasionally a drop of Mead, Baileys or Absinthe or something.

In Italy, I drink wine virtually everyday. Usually half a bottle or so. And or aperitivi/cocktails/beers.
Here alcohol is expensive & carries different social rituals, so I tend not to. Weird, huh?

When I lived by myself (for 5 yrs in Sheffield) I had a rule that I would not drink in the house without company as it would (to me) be too easy to just to come home and drink. I did have one exception to the rule (all personal rules IMO need exceptions!) was that when watching the 6 nations on the telly I would have some beer (although I have to say I would normally go to a pub to watch it if at all possible – but money was very tight so could not always afford the pub)
