Just read that Big Bang stars Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki are still good friends despeite the fact their romantic relartionship has ended. I'm not friends with any of my exes. Not particularly because there may be any bad feeling but because we don't live close or socialise in the same circles.

I haven't seen an ex in almost 15 years.
One did invite me to be a facebook friend, but my wife has strict views on ex's being friends on social media.
I don't have any dislike for either of my ex's, but I haven't been near them since I left school.

I am still good friends with my main Ex and while I don’t go and see her (As SWMBO has a bit of green eyed goddess in her) I do pop in to see her mum and we chat on e-mail from time to time and swap birthday / Xmas cards

Yes. I'm still single so there's no issue with a spouse being upset by it (although I'd suggest to people that if it would cause that much of problem within a couple you have trust issues you need to work on). So I keep in touch with and occasionally meet up for coffee with a couple of my exes. They're good people, or they wouldn't have got to the stage before they were exes . We fell out at the time but it doesn't change people's fundamental nature. Maybe I'm lucky that I haven't got into relationships with any crazy/nasty people, maybe the fact I'm quite cautious about these things has stood me in good stead. A couple of other exes are now abroad and I don't keep in regular contact with them but it's not through intent, it's through circumstances.

I don't dislike any of them, and would happily chat to one if our paths crossed; but I have a hard time holding grudges or disliking anyone for prolonged periods. My wife isn't keen on the idea of me being "chatty" though, despite the fact that we've been together much longer than the sum total of all my previous relationships.

I was for a time, with most people I'd ever slept with. As time has moved on though, only one of them (the one I was closest to) really features as a friend in the true sense of the word.

But in all honesty, my definition of friendships/relationships has changed drastically over the past couple of years. With both my age and my overseas based lifestyle, I'm probably not a representative example compared with most "settled" UK residents (or Mark and whoever else is over there).

There's also the point that the whole 'other half' thing applies to them to. If/when an ex gets into a new relationship there's no telling how their new partner might take them being friends with you. There are a couple of people I would still be perfectly happy to spend time with but their partners aren't comfortable with it - or at least that's what they've told me. Naturally they put their new partner first.

It's just life. People get their knickers in a twist about it but it's not really worth it.

At times like this I take great solace in the wise words of Christopher Rock:

Women don't have male friends. They have penises in a jar. In an emergency: break the glass.

It's not the most politically correct words of advice, admittedly.

Most of my friends are men. Side effect of working in construction. Men like to believe all women want them.

Well that's fair but only if you're actually stupid enough to sleep with your exes. I can't imagine any circumstance where that would be a good idea to be honest.
