So then, what do you drink? For me at home nothing beats a cider from Somerset, or a Rattler. If I fancy it then a perry might go down nicely. If I'm away from home and out of the cider-producing region, then I'll drink Carling, Carlsberg Export, Stella Artois (only the imported stuff) or Fosters, and in that order. At a stretch I might drink a Brains SA. How about you? ![]() |

Anything nice, usually ale, or real ale as you have to call it, or else. Just had a Cooper's sparkling ale, was sampling some of Windermere's finest last week, the week before then an ale from a brewery near where I live. |

On a night out, shots and alco-pops. Anything cheap will do. Down the pub, cider or a nice Morgan's spiced and coke. Occasionally ale. |

Cider usually, normally in a decent pub I might have a pint of proper cider but I find Old Rosie a little too perfumed for my liking Avoid lager as I just don't like it, annoyingly it can make a night out quite expensive. |

Cider when chilling out. Vodbulls/JD Coke when out on the razz (doesn't happen often at all). Though only Vodbulls when they're using smirnoff - JD and smirnoff don't give me hangovers, but others do like Grouse and Absolut. Strange. I do VK when at the student union on a friday night - they're either £1 or £1.50 a bottle depending on which club you're in and the bottle bars making getting served much more convenient. Can get 4 at a time and the tops just unscrew and pop off! |

Blimey; never took you lot for a bunch of cider drinkers ![]() I like real ale, but I don't drink it often. I was "out on the town" last night, mostly drinking Becks early on and then went on to whisky and soda water in separate glasses. Tonight was more typical; red wine before and with dinner followed by whisky. I'll drink pretty much anything in drought though. |

What can I say? I'm from Somerset*, it's like a rite of passage. ![]() *I wouldn't drink Magners (Irish crap), or any cider from Herefordshire for that matter. ![]() |

Does he mind? ![]() I haven't tippled seriously since Christmas. I took a decision to leave it out, and generally feel better for it. Currently it's Ocean Spray cranberry juice, chilled, with my evening meal. I am partial to a good full-bodied red wine (when I do partake). I don't say no to a really good scrumpy cider. We had some down Debon way a few years ago - on draft, chilled and a full brimming pint. Made for an interesting walk back to the B&B. ![]() Otherwise I run on unleaded tea, with the occasional nuclear-grade coffee. |

I don't tend to drink alcohol in the house so it's water or diluting juice most of the time and fruit juice in the morning. For simplicity I drink lager (not all that fussy) in the pub unless there is a decent selection of real ales in which case I'll try anything once although I'm not a huge fan of most porters and stouts. Will also drink Guinness in a pinch. Tend to avoid spirits unless I'm very, very drunk and someone else is buying as I can't stand them normally. Still it's only a few weeks until the Peterborough Beer Festival starts (25 - 29th August) so I suspect my real ale consumption will be going up fairly dramatically this month ![]() |

If I do drink in the house, it's usually red wine (something heavy) because both me and the purple one enjoy it (and I at least tend not to feel any after effects), or occasionally some port. If it's Christmas/new years, I may get a bottle of sherry in. If it's revision time, or time to get coursework in, I'll usually swig from a bottle of rum. Out and about I'll drink ale, preferably nothing too hoppy, or Guinness. If I'm out drinking with people (as apposed to in a pub for a meal) I'll usually have a rum chaser with the pint, then switch to double rum and lime cordial later in the night. If I'm on one particular pub in Aber, I'll mutilate a Harvey Wallbanger, swap the vodka for rum and the orange for pineapple and add some grenadine, it's very nice, and seemingly quite strong, but I tend not to have many because of their £5 label! I'll not touch any clear spirits, after trying vodka, bacardi and tequila, I stay away as even if they are a mixer, they make me feel instantly sick. Again, I'll not touch larger as a rule because of it's lack of taste (compared to a nice warm ale) and because it's so fizzy. Other than that, copious amounts of tea! |

When I did drink it was vodka and Coke, now it's just Coke ![]() I've got a lot more money behind me as a result ![]() You grow out of drinking in the rubbish/dodgy local pubs in Belfast pretty quickly, and none of my mates now live close enough to make carry-outs a realistic proposition. I can't say I miss any of it... |
