What is really annoying is that if they label it as having water added there is nothing that trading standards can do. It should be banned.

Same with bacon. I want to fry it, not [LIFTED] boil it!

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Th real question is, why can't trading standard do something? Give me a valid reason for adding water in this manner, other than to deceive the consumer?

Texture. Some of their customers find other products much too chickeny, and would prefer something more watery. At least that's all they have to say to the inspector. After all, the tomatoes you eat were specially bred to have more water and less flavour for some reason.

but as long as lots of people keep mainly buying on price then it will continue. if more people bought the better quality chicken then they would stop doing it

Saw a programme on this the other night. I noticed a price tag on one of the quality chickens... With the greatest of respect, who the duck would pay twenty eight quid for a chicken? It was organic but still...? TWENTY EIGHT QUID! FOR ONE DUCKING CHICKEN! Sent from my big ass Sony Xperia Z Ultra, using Tapatalk 4.

OK that is an extreme case but my local butcher sells free range local chickens for about £8 or so each so twice what a cheap supermarket chicken costs but there is no added water and they taste fab

yes but with no water when you cook it you keep all the weight that you have paid for So 1.2kg cheap chicken when cooked now only weighs 800g as 300g of water has boiled off 1.2 kg chick from my butcher weighs 1.1 kg
