So now ketamine is in the news as they want to re-class it. I'm sure we've had plenty of drugs discussions in the past but always a good subject to bring up as everyone has an opinion. I'm so out of touch with it all now I have no idea what these 'natural highs' are that are killing people. I drink, I smoke and I very occasionally have the odd joint but that's my lot these days. Of course a lot of people my age have given it all up now they have a family and I also have friends where their kids are now leaving home and they're still going to Glastonbury and out on nights out and 'aving it large Micky Flanagan also brought up in his show saying that in the 80s suddenly everyone was doing coke and it wasn't just for rock stars. I'll stop rambling now Discuss.

If you're including alcohol in the poll, then yes.
If not, no.

Never taken any drugs, never smoked at all. Do drink on the odd occasion.

I definitely don't need drugs to have a good time, don't drink much either to be fair. I don't seek to hang out with French expats for that reason. Really big drugs problem in expat traders.

I never smoked so never tried cannabis. I was too aware of the risks of addiction so turned down heroin, crack, cocaine. I already had a CD and book addiction.

Uhm let's see... the usual prescription antibiotics, pain relief and anti-depressants that I think are pretty much commonplace for anyone who's made it into their 30s at this point in the 21st century. Caffeine and nicotine daily, alcohol probably 5 out of 7 days a week. Cannabis for a while, but not anymore. And that's it, despite 10+ years in the film and TV industry. I've even been on a night out with Richard Bacon that ended up back at his place with a few of us. I think you know what I'm hinting at. I can't imagine anyone saying no to the question of whether they've used a drug in their lifetime, unless you happened to be born into a fairly unusual household.

About 20 years ago, at roughly this time of the year, my mates and I were frequently to be found across the road from Whipps Cross hospital picking magic mushrooms. We also got through a lot of acid and speed.
Quite a few of those mates did end up spending time in mental institutions though.

Other than alcohol and caffeine, I've done speed twice (once it was great the second time rubbish) and mushrooms once (very good even if I get a little paranoid toward the end). For someone who has spent most of his life on the peripheries of the music business, I've been pretty much drug free. I did spend 5 years in the early 80s when I didn't even drink alcohol. I never smoked because it never the cool kids at school who did it, but the people who IMO were complete dicks, and the "isn't it cool" hippy attitude of most of the people I knew who smoked pot was enough to put me off for ever.

Homegrown cannabis in both Spain and Italy but never in the UK. Mushrooms in the UK. The usual amount of alcohol in the UK, but virtually daily drinking in Italy, usually wine and especially in winter.
Once you've seen what a camera crew records as locals process coca leaves into cocaine in the south American jungle, I defy anyone to want to use it. Always been interested in trying MDMA, but I think I've probably missed the boat at my age and with the lifestyle I have now. The only things on my list are raw coca leaves in the Andes and some ayahuasca in the jungle down there with a shamen.
Anyone who's had real (not synthetic liquid) morphine shoot up their arm will probably sympathise with me in understanding the attraction to heroin and various other harder things, but I'd prefer to explore my mind/the universe than just [LIFTED] them both up.

I've never smoked, though I grew up with parents and grandparents who smoked. I drink to be sociable, but I've been pretty alcohol free for much of 2013. I just don't enjoy it booze much any more. So, aside from the drugs I take to try and maintain a skeleton of some kind, I am pretty boring really.

Smoked a bit of weed in various forms, when I was in my teens. Went out with a girl who had a thing for amyl nitrate in the bedroom, does that count? That's about it.
