ok so when you go the chippy, what do you usually order ? i dont eat any fish so i usually either have a chicken and mushroom pie with chips, or a kebab. |

Don't tend to go to the chippy when I'm in England for some reason. Back home in Scotland I am partial to a steak pie supper (deep fried steak pie and chips). A pizza supper is also good although I've never been tempted by the battered ones. Even I think that's taking things too far. |

When far enough north, either Haggis and Chips or from one particular chip shop, a Cumberland Sausage with chips (both with a good curry sauce). Here it depends on my mood / availability of stuff. Fish, sausage, battered sausage, burger, kebab are all good options in my book. |

Cod and chips and beans, although I'm not keen on chip shop beans anymore they're too fresh. I prefer them to have been slowly heated for ages and gone stodgy. |

Chips, mushy peas and curry sauce. I'll sometimes have a spring roll if they look good. Not had anything for a few years though. I won't eat the fish because it's usually cod or plaice which are endangered, in addition to costing an absolute fortune. |

Sausage and chips normally. There's a good chippy down our way, locally caught fish and they push the cod alternatives as well. They use filtered ground nut oil that's changed 3 times a day, so it's not nearly as bad for you as the usual industrial cookery stuff. I am not a sea food fan. |

Oooh actually, it'll be a saveloy if they got them. But not one of those horrible waterlogged ones, I like mine with a bit of crunch to the skin. BBQ'd - they're fab. BBQ a saveloy today! |

Usually it's fish and chips. Round these parts that's usually not cod any more, often its hake. No salt, vinegar on the chips. Possibly ketchup on the fish. Thick sliced white bread available if possible for making chip butties. Sometimes I have a steak & kidney pudding. They're a bit like casual sex. Very very bad for you in the long run, you regret it the next day but by god at the time its good. A chippy/restaurant not too far from me has been awarded the Potato Council's prize for the best chips in Britain. I can't decide if The Potato Council is actually made up of potatoes. Maybe they have a particularly distinguished King Edward as their chairman. Or chairspud, in fact. Jon |

Haddock. Chips. Peas. Salt. Vinegar. Also, Windermere has the best chippy in the known universe. OMFG it's nice. Grimsby thinks it has the best chippy, but no, it doesn't.

Fish (COD KPLZ), chips, beans and a couple of onion rings. I used to love battered Mars Bars too. Sounds awful, but in a sickly, sticky way they were nice.
