'Gay cake' couple: 'We don't hate anyone. It's done out of love for God' | UK news | The Guardian
http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016 ... sex-ruling

Quote:
The couple were originally members of the Free Presbyterian Church, founded by the late Rev Ian Paisley. The pair, who met while doing missionary work in the Philippines, now worship at Trinity Reformed Presbyterian church in Mossley, in the northern outskirts of Belfast.

Er, why exactly are the journo and newspaper giving out those details?

I thought they caught someone on the Tour de France or one of the other big races last year doing this?

Wow, that really is a WTF moment! Is this some sort of optical illusion that the illustrator threw in, just for giggles?

Shoppers fail to spot cheapest deals.

It's a bit misleading, as most pricing labels break down the price to easily comparable units i.e. per 100 grammes, even on special offers these days. Even so, only 2% of those taking the test managed to get it right? I've long said a reasonable mental arithmetic capability can save you money on a shopping trip - if you can't glance at a few prices and judge which offer is best, you're on a hiding to nothing.

I did this whilst chatting to the missus and I worked out the deals quite easily except for the tomato sauce one. The article makes it easier because the prices and deals are all in one section. In the supermarket, there are frequently deals at the end of aisles away from other products. I tend to buy deals for those things I normally buy and know how much it costs eg Original Source shower gel that I buy will be priced at £2.20 the majority of the time. Sometimes there's a half-price deal or BOGOF so they're £1.10 each. Occasionally, they're priced at £1 each and that's when I stock up.

Best one I saw recently was in Tesco. They had 380/390g bars of Galaxy on special offer for £3 (for Valentines day). There where you walked in and also at the end of at least one aisle.
In the actual sweets aisle the same offer, right next to 200g bars for £1, also on offer

I've noticed it in multipacks. A box of 24 sachets of Quaker Oats was more expensive than buying two boxes 12 of sachets.
