Murdoch bitching and moaning about the BBC "newspaper" (WTF?) being free when he's planning on charging. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/commen ... 736284.ece Murdoch can [LIFTED] off, frankly. The BBC provides high quality, independent content for nada (well, the licence fee anyway) and should continue to do so. I would much rather have the BBC News site around than his excuses for "news" papers. I would happily campaign to save the BBC News website, as I'm sure most would. It beats its commercial counterparts for quality hands-down, and there is a reason that is consistently wins Webby awards. |

The BBC website has been in trouble before because of the "unfair competition" argument. I think they're quite heavily restricted on the content now. |

People like Murdoch do not want the BBC as they have a guaranteed income stream and in times of economic stress, when Media companies get most of there revenue from advertising, there revenue goes south. There response is not of course making quality programmes that attract viewers and advertisers but to attack another institution. The BBC will always have accusations of bias but compared to papers like The Times etc it tries to be impartial and if it is not then people do have a way of getting redress much easier than from Newspapers. Murdoch knows that if he goes ahead with a subscription plan and there is aplace online that has free news, then who on earth is going to pay for it. |

What, you mean Murdock will have less ways to "push his opinion on the public so they're more likely to vote the way he wants them to". |

Agreed. During your study period you may wish to look up a song which sums it, (him) up quite nicely. It's by Queen drummer Roger Taylor, is taken, (I believe, but my memory isn't what it used to be) from the album "Happiness" and the track is called "Dear Mr. Murdoch" |

I wouldn't say I entirely agree with that of late, but Murdoch can still do one. |

I was primarily questioning the independence of the output, but yeah quality too. |
