TBH when I was on my psychiatry rotation, there was always an increase in admissions which coincided with a new shipment of cannabis. The older milder cannabis probably did nothing other than chill people out. These days, cannabis tends to be stronger and there's a correlation with patients admitted with psychotic symptoms. |

Cannabis doesn't trigger paranoia! Who the hell said that cannabis triggers paranoia? Are you looking at me? Why are you looking at me?! And where the hell are my cookies! Sent from my big ass Sony Xperia Z Ultra tabphonelet, using Tapatalk 4. |

It can trigger it in heavy users if they were that way inclined in the first place. |

My mate and his missus were heavy users, but nobody would have described them as paranoid at the beginning. In the end he got off it. |

as I said before, one of my good friends at uni was a really nice, smart guy. He started smoking weed in first year and had to be locked up by the end of second year. He is still in a ward to this day, 8 years later. From what I understand weed these days is a lot stronger than the hippy spliffs of the 60/70s and is a lot more dangerous, especially to teenagers with immature brains. |

In all seriousness, yeah, I did weed back in the nineties and it never affected me. I also believe that there would probably be a predisposition to mental illness. By the way my period of use was over several years and, whilst enthusiastic, was very social. My personal circumstances changed and I decided that I should stop, as I had a position of responsibility and felt that I should not put myself in a position where I could cause myself a lot of grief. I decided to stop. I stopped. Immediately. Not had a joint in over 15 years and never missed it. I'm not justifying myself to anyone, just giving facts.
