I always think about that show since there's barely a day where I don't read or realise, 'Christ, X exists now.'

The show would be more relevant than ever now; massive advances in every branch of science and technology, government spying, the ethics of it all, climate change... There's any number of 'characters' who'll appear and talk on the cheap, and if the Beeb's lucky, be controversial :)

If it does come back let's hope it isn't just "the beeb gadget show."

It has to have an educational element or I really don't think it will be worth it.

+1, TGS tells you next to nothing whilst wasting your time with the 'challenges'.

All it would need to do is take CLICK and extrapolate things a few years ahead.

Certainly bits of 'Click' would go into it but I think Click is a bit... scattergun compared to how TW was. Click are happy to show stuff that they and we know have no chance of making any ripples just because they're weird or funny. TW had it's moments but generally it was much more focused and dealt with stuff that was at lease possibly going to come to something and left the truly crazy stuff to other people/shows.

You'd end up with a lump of Click, a bit of The Big Bang, a pinch of the Top Gear news section (and only that part of TG) and a side serving of the kind of stuff Stuff/T3 magazines do. I don't think that would be a bad thing overall - I'd certainly watch it

The kind of thing I liked in tw was when cds first came out and they actually explained how they worked. Ok, they went slightly overboard with the whole mashed potato on the disc thing but that sort of programming, IMHO, really works.

When the first Google self driving cars came along, the US media was in a frenzy, how innovative that was and how they were leaving the traditional car makers in the dust, because this was all new and innovative. My first thought was, I remember seeing the first steps in this direction in the 70s and 80s on Tomorrow's World, where VW, Volvo and Mercedes were working on similar technologies, but of course the sat nav hadn't been invented and computers weren't' as advanced as they are now, so they were driving in trains and using road side beacons to orient themselves.

What I really think we don't need is reviews of the latest shiny toys. Surely explaining how the technology works will empower the great British public, which will help them cut through the crap they're being fed by the sales drones at <<insert name of electrical retailers here>>

I think even just going by the name, any product that one can actually buy shouldn't be on the show at all, as it's effectively "Today's World". I think to be interesting it needs to focus on what serious R&D people are working on.
