Good evening all - some good news to (finally) share... work are planning on sending me to Australia to work for 6 months on our projects out there!
The thing is, being forever pecimistic, I have held back on my enthusiasm so far to maintain some degree of control over the whole affair - and have these last couple of days decided the best way to approach a number of questions I have (for which answers have yet to be volunteered) with a letter and a formal meeting with my director - with whom I have a fairly amicable relationship with.
And so I thought, what better a sounding board and resource for suggestions on how to approach than here!
So if you'd all have a looksee - maybe I'm missing some things, or if I'm asking too much / not asking hard enough..... | | |

Annual Leave I assume accruement and receipt of annual leave will remain as normal? My birthday at the end of November coincides with friends being in Sydney – time I will be requesting off. Medical Obviously I will be relinquishing the luxury of the NHS whilst in Australia; in addition to my personal health & accident care plan (which is not covered internationally) as such what provisions will be made to adequately offset this should I need medical advice, aid and/or care? Emergencies Should for whatever reason I need to return home (for instance family emergencies) during the period, and returning to resume work is viable, will such costs be covered by MAAP? Pay How will my wages be paid? As normal? Do I need to do, or provide, anything? Will working abroad work affect my PAYE contributions and other deductions? Further to these questions; it has not escaped my attention that I will be serving additional roles above and beyond my typical duties whilst in Australia; operating as an Architectural Assistant, project BIM manager and a BIM tutor – whilst being the MAAP representative in Australia. For this, I wonder, can I expect to see some level wage increase? Since you are leaving for Australia quite soon yourself, I would these be answered with some degree of urgency, although I appreciate a number of my questions require more consideration than others.
