Not really a news item so posted here. Suspect it was in response to Glen A Larson's passing.
1. auto cruise/collision avoidance
Not much point in having a self driving car if you had to steer it out of the way of obstacles. Apart from just hitting the brakes, KITT could also turbo boost or use ski mode (go on to two wheels).
2. Anamorphic equaliser
Aka the scanner. Yup KITT could scan his environment and pick things up. Although at convenient plot points, KITT might be confused by a car whose paintwork rinsed off to reveal a new colour or it would be out of scanner range. Knight Rider 2000 built on this by displaying stuff on the windscreen as a holographic projection. This was more advanced in the 2008 series.
3. Homing device.
The article talks about Michael's medallion which he had for one single episode. The rest of the time KITT would monitor Michael using the wristwatch or even just his scanners. Many times we see KITT coming to rescue Michael.
4. Medical Scanner
Whilst the article states KITT did this through the seats, I can't specifically recall it being revealed. I just assumed it was the scanner again. But we do see KITT monitor things like blood pressure and even ECG (how?!?) without any obvious equipment.
5. Electronic Jammer
Well it being the 80s, KITTs microwave jammer could do all sorts of things - change traffic lights, jam or start other vehicles, trigger other vehicles braking systems, crack safes and even change the dice values after they had been rolled!
6. Hydrogen fuel
It was only in Give Me Liberty that Bonnie altered KITTs systems to run on hydrogen. In a couple of episodes KITT uses regular fuel. Supposedly he ran on any combustible fluids.

KITT is a brilliant example of just how far we've come IRL. The new prosthetic limbs are another. See also the computer that fits in your palm and let's you contact people globally, ask questions about anything you can think of, tells you about your location and where you might want to go, lets you do your shopping and adjust your heating...
