My friend has been working on a little game which has just been released which is: The new freakin Elite, which has been released today, I've been watching the behind the scenes videos for over a year now and the game looks lovely: just to give anyone a heads up if they fancy playing Elite, but with 2014 graphics. https://store.elitedangerous.com/elite-dangerous.html/He's quite talented, I think he specialises in lighting.

Now there's a blast from the past. I can't remember if it was Elite or Elite 2, but I always got killed really quickly.

Red's bought it, he's also upgraded his graphics card so he can play Elite and GTA4 without hanging. He's really looking forward to it

If I had even an iota of free time to spend on a game I'd be all over this like a fat man at a buffet, but alas even the odd bit of gaming on my phone seems to have gone out the window these days.

It looks lovely. I'll be waiting for the Mac version though. There is the open source interpretation, Oolite, to keep me quiet. Or I could just fire up the Archimedes and play what is arguably the best version of the original game.

I remember playing it at the hospital in Crawley, when I was at college. They had a BBC B there and we were supposed to be writing a small system for them on it, but we played Elite during the breaks. As we only had about 15 - 20 minutes a week to play on it, I never got very good at it or very far into it.

I'm considering getting a controller to play GTA v, Elite and Assassins Creed, they don't feel right on keyboard/mouse, no one makes games really these days that work well with them.

Used to play Frontier Elite many years ago on my mates Atari ST. Think I did eventually get up to Elite level but it took ages.

GTA V and Assassin's Creed work fine for me on mouse / keyboard (I've not played GTA V itself, but given how similar it is in terms of viewport to something like Skyrim, I'd be reasonably comfortable with it). The only games that completely fails for me are racing games, and I suspect Elite would be similar but I've not played a flight simulator at all on mouse and keyboard since Descent II!
