Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you springs to mind. I have somewhat more sympathy for Corbyn thinking the leadership election is being rigged than I do for Donald Trump proclaiming that's the only way he could possibly lose some of the US states in their election.

The latest scheme - that cabinet posts (shadow or not, depending) should be elected by/from the PLP not party members or being in the gift of the leader, is pretty transparent TBH. If they can't beat Corbyn in the election (and it's pretty obvious now that they won't) then they'll do the next best thing - which is make sure he can't actually get anything done by stuffing the cabinet with Progress members who will refuse to work with him. Then of course say that the issue is he's a useless leader...

Yeah, although it looks like they might not manage to make that work the way they want it to - Corbyn is suggesting that cabinet posts should be elected - by conference and/or members which would potentially thwart the PLPs plans on that one. I suspect they'll suddenly think it's a stupid idea if it ends up going that way.
The PLP - we're in favour of democracy as long as it gives us the answer we want!

Can’t help thinking that if did go, he’d be subjected to a lot of discussions on one subject in an attempt to “correct” his thinking. I somehow think that he’d rather stay at home and let people in another country get all heated at a safe distance.

Oh I don't know, a trip to Israel might be relatively relaxing compared to all the crap going on in the Labour party.

Yet more non-story manufactured outrage. He's in the middle of a bloody election campaign, of course he can't sod off abroad for however long. So he offered to send his deputy in his place, which is about the most obvious and sensible thing to do.
Yet somehow this is 'controversial'. Sod. Right. Off.

Let me get this straight, the week before the winner of the leadership election is due to be announced with polling still open, the BBC are broadcasting a programme in peak slot that allows a (hilariously unsuccessful) former Labour leader to bad mouth one of the candidates with no right of reply at all?
Yes, that's really impartial. If this was a general election, somebody would be going to jail.

So Jezza wins again, and with an increased vote. Time for the PLP to suck it up.

Not only that, but like last time he won all of the notional 'electoral colleges'. It wasn't just recent 'entryist' members, he won all the various classifications of voters. Every single one. Union related voters, long standing members...
If the PLP rebels still insist after this that what they want is more important than what the party membership patently wants, they really are beyond redemption.

Labour too weak to win election alone, Fabian Society says http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-38490343They need to use all those new party members to promote the fact they aren't the Tory party* - getting bogged down in the Brexit past won't do sh1t, much better to ignore the dithering barbs and use Brexit as a baseball bat. To that end a strategic alliance with the Lib Dems is good for both as long as it lasts. At least on paper. There'll be the usual betrayals later... in fact, why not get the Greens involved? Jeremy can sell that if anyone can! * May knows that's where Labour can attack, that's what all her crap is really about, sticking it to the elite and looking after the JAMs. I promise you she'll be shouting Labour can't be trusted with the economy before long, when Labour eventually starts appealing to the downtrodden.
