Out of all the ones mentioned, Lewis would be my least favourite choice. Even before Cavill!

Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy is how I'd play it there if it were up to me. You?

Have to say though, Cavill comes across really well in the trailers for Man from UNCLE.

I was going to suggest Jamie Bamber but he's too old

Bond has varied a lot in age over time but he's never really been 'young'. On his one and only appearance Lazenby was 30 and I think he's the youngest Bond there's been. There's no precedent for a Bond in his mid 20s and given his back story - he's already had a fair military career by the time he joins MI6 - there's not really the scope for it (although there's nothing stopping them ignoring that if they feel like it).

Elba is now probably a little too old - 10 years ago he'd have been perfect but he's going a bit grey now... Fassbender.. yes, I think he'd do quite well, Tom Hardy does have the physicality for it but I don't think he can do the grace and refinement (for want of a better term). Bond is not just a thug. Every time I've seen a photo of Tom Hardy is a dinner suit he looks more 'nightclub doorway' than 'officer's mess'.

David Niven wasn't dead, Connery wasn't dead, Moore wasn't dead, Lazenby wasn't dead, Dalton wasn't dead, Brosnan wasn't dead... It is like a relay race. ;)

My point being he's only made a few films. I don't see any reason to change Bond yet.

He's made three and (I believe) he's signed on to do three more, including 'Spectre'. At that point unless they waved absolutely monumental amounts of cash under his nose - and given how much money Skyfall made, they may well - the general expectation is he'll want to move on and do other things. He's hinted at that although not said so outright. Being Bond these days is certainly more physically stressing than it was in say Roger Moore's era. Blimey though, I didn't know Daniel Craig was 47.

That means you're actually talking about the next Bond actor starting in the role some time after 2020. So someone who's 25 now would actually be about right at that point.
