Amazon's pay-per-page policy is a flipping disgrace | TechRadar http://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-co ... ce-1297461Apart from anything else, Amazon of course knows exactly how books tend to be read... They really are outdoing themselves when it comes to ripping people off recently.

Yeah, a longer book won't help if it is totally crap.
50 pages read of an 800 page turd will earn less than 250 of 250 pages of a well written book, but it still seems odd.
It also has a bit of the feel of the Apple announcement - although they are at least not suggesting that reader can read the first quarter of the book for free and then Amazon only pay what is read of the remaining three quarters...

That's a ridiculous complaint. Only a dreadful writer would compromise the structure of their story to take advantage of a publisher's pay per page model.
If you feel ripped off you should read less [LIFTED] books. You can buy the collected works of Tolstoy for about a pound on Kindle, which is very good value.

Another reason physical media wins (in my mind) over the digital version. The list of reasons to bother with a Kindle hasn't really grown, but the downsides are becoming ever more apparent.

In this case only if you are an author...

I’m sure E L James is already working on that.

I only ever use 10% of your product. Would you be ok if I just paid you for that much? For some things it's an appropriate model. This is not one of those things.
