The girl opposite me just spent some time clicking all her fingers.

I wanted to get up and punch her :D

My main problem stems from receptionists. Actually just one receptionist. She'll call me during a consultation thereby interrupting it. If someone wants to speak to the duty doc or to me specifically she'll put the call through but won't have taken details about who is calling or why. She'll send messages through the screen messaging system instead of the tasks system (the former gets a popup bar across the top and isn't tracked or saved so can't be retrieved later or audited). In short, she's crap. But the partners want to keep her out of loyalty and the fact that they can't face firing someone. If I were partner, the receptionist would be kicked out. The partners know this which is why I'm not partner.

Can't you just tell her not to interrupt you during consultations. If she continually ignores your instruction, you can raise it with the partners

I think about two years ago she kept interrupting me. It got to the point where so had so many interruptions I was mega pissed off and didn't answer the phone. I also wrote a letter of complaint. I've mentioned it to the partners in passing multiple times but nothing was ever done other than lip service. They've been there for years so they just adapt. They're also less inclined to change things. At times it has felt like the tail (receptionists and other staff) are wagging the dog (partners).

I've wanted to leave for a while but the workload is currently lower than some of my friends in the same job. I could go for another practice where I get 25% more income but I know I'd have to work twice as hard. What's stopped me is that we've had a new doctor who has joined and she's the same age as me. We both discuss things and I feel things are taken more strongly since there are two voices instead of just one.

My colleague spends all his time processing work for Alamy. Proudly announces 'he only does two hours work a day', makes £9k more than me. Makes lengthy personal phone calls. Hands out equipment without creating the paperwork. Fond of a two hour lunch break from time to time. Comments from other departments include that 'he makes their students feel weird' and that 'he's a bit creepy'.
My feelings about things have come up during several appraisals, nothing has been done so far.

Taking or using my food items. 'I'll get you another one'. Yeah, sure you will.

As of this morning?

People who walk into my office, while I'm on the phone and burp loudly, followed shortly afterwards by an eye burning fart. Sniffing said fart and realising I'm about to tear his [LIFTED] head off, then pissing off on an "urgent errand", before I finish my call!

A couple of IT spods did a good one yesterday.
Came to install a couple of network ports in the building about 9 am and in the process removed the network connection in the cabinet for the upstairs printer. Didn't come back to fix the printer until 4 pm.

On a separate note, people who know what the turnaround time is for a job then completely ignore it and expect you to drop everything else to sort out their failure to plan their work properly.
As an example, I review COSHH assessments for high hazard materials people work with. The official turnaround time for this is 2 days... I was somewhat nonplussed then to be told "please review this assessment, by the way we're starting in 30 minutes". Grrr

You come back waving a result that was ridiculously unlikely, but never mind that, what about that 'peace in the Middle East' we asked you about? :x

Three bosses, all telling you different things.
