What fonts work with which other fonts on the same page? Currently I have a whole host of Arial, and I don't like it. I'm looking for a menu font, a body text font, page headings and image captions.
Is there anyone here that can help me out? I'm using Google fonts, if that's any help?

Unless you use only fonts that everybody will have you will need to use font families anyway, never being 100% sure how your page will be represented to the end user has always been a topic of consternation in web design.
Arial was Microsoft being cheap - they didn’t want to pay out for a license for Helvetica. They designed Arial with the same metrics as Helvetica, so the two should be interchangeable without layout being affected.
Some really helpful links there, Alun. Thanks very much. Paul, I wanted to get away from from the whole Helvetica/Arial overusage. I've made some changes that I'm going to stick with for the next few days, keep going back and visiting them and see if I like them enough to publish.

Have a look through FontSquirrel.com too. However, be ware of falling down the “my font doesn’t have that glyph” trap. A lot of them will be fairly complete, but if you rely on (or foresee relying on) more accurate typography (proper quotes, primes, degree symbols, in fact anything that will make this site throw a MySQL error when posting a reply about said glyphs - ahem), you may want to run some examples through their test sheets before committing.
