Does anyone on here watch TV through IPTV? I'm looking at whether it's worth setting up say a Roku box with IPTV for a subscription that'll be cheaper than Sky etc.

Don't use one but if it's mainly Sky content you want would a NowTV box be a better choice? Effectively a Roku but cheaper and mainly tied into Sky stuff.

I have a NowTV box and NowTV app on the Xbox. I've been a user of the Entertainment bundle for a while now but have yet to pay the monthly fee as I keep topping my account up with 3 month passes included with the boxes. It's cheaper to buy a box on offer, use the pass and give the box away!

It's mainly for catch-up but I have used it to watch a live stream if Nick Jr (I think!) for the kids. Seemed to work fine. Of course you're limited to Sky channels/programs but unless you're going to subscribe to this, Amazon and Netflix there's no one service that gets you everything anayway.

Shop-to regularly have the boxes for a tenner with either 3 months entertainment or two months movie or if not Currys/supermarkets have them for £15. They're going to start to disappear though as a new version of the box is out and is more expensive.

Yup I have noticed people sometimes buy NowTV and was considering it. I was also looking at Roku 4 so deciding whether to get that instead especially as it would be capable of 4K streaming etc (not that I have a 4K set).

Best option might be a couple of NowTV boxes for a bit.

Amazon Fire TV and Amazon Prime here, plus our ISP has all of the German freeview channels for streaming.

I haven't watched any subscription TV (Sky etc.) since 1999. I only got the Fire TV, because I already had Prime for free deliveries and free eBooks,

Not on the device but you can airplay from a laptop

Is that from any laptop or Apple devices?

I've tried something similar to a Chromecast from my Android phone. It was fine for BBC iPlayer but for some reason ITV decided not to allow it. Actually that's one of the reasons why I caved in and bought a NowTV box in the end.

Officially it's only Apple stuff, but you can get windows apps that will allow an PC to 'send' to an Apple TV over airplay. AirParrot is quite good, although there are others.

Wasn't very impressed with the iPlayer client on the Now TV box tbh. Quite buggy and slow. The one on the PS4 is actually rather good.

I'd assume the incoming AppleTV will get an iPlayer app pretty quickly after launch, by the looks of things porting an iOS App to Apple TVOS is a pretty straightforward exercise.

I ended up picking two NowTV boxes for £10 each from Currys. Figured four months' Sky Movies should be enough to keep the missus happy. Turned out one box had an extra voucher, and you get one month free of Sky Movies when you sign up. That's seven months' worth. If it works.

Which brings me to my next question. Should I activate them all now, or one at a time as and when they run out?
