A great big honking +1 to that. Assuming the images are an accurate representation though it looks like the mirror is a composite one rather than a single big one so it should be easier to get it right as you don't perfection over such a big area in one go. |

And you’d hope they have built in adjustable platforms for each of the mirrors to allow for corrections. |

Certainly the article mentioned it would take about 3 months of calibration to get it functioning at its full potential so it sounds like they've learned the lesson of Hubble, especially considering that this is a one shot scenario. Must be quite nervy working on a project that cost $18billion that you'll have no chance of fixing if there's a balls up. |
