Doesn't strike me as a bad idea if true, but sounds more like something the lawyers would have to look at first ;)

My sleep patterns are all over the place anyway, and long before computers etc.

Easy, phones and tablets are banned from the bedroom. We only have our eBook readers, which supposedly don't have the blue light problem.

Most people don't know the problem exists though.

Quite a lot of people use phones as either alarm clocks or baby monitors.

There’s some app for the iPhone which requires you to put your phone on the floor or on the table next you you so it can monitor you as you sleep and wake you up in a peaceful manner. I don’t quite know how things like that work, or is that some kind of wonderful scam? Just how does a phone monitor your sleeping patterns?

From my observations of the iphone owners in our offices, it's quite easy. Sleep is the only time they aren't constantly fiddling with the bloody things.
