The News Huddlines referred to the pound coin when it first appeared as ‘a “Maggie” - thick, brassy and thinks it’s a soverign’.  I have no qualms on saying goodbye to it - it’s never been a nice coin - they always look battered and knackered. Hopefully the new one (which I like) will be more robust.

Yes but this will be the first coin that has a different diameter based on where you measure it.
The 50p and 20p have sides but are the same diameter no matter where you measure them.

My thoughts exactly. Other than that, providing it doesn't create a bunch of problems for coin machines etc.., I don't really care.
