TBH by this stage in the series, Reacher is around 53 years old. Tom Cruise is 54. He's the right age. Just puny. +1. Maybe they needed a high-profile actor to get the films off the ground. Don't know. But he wasn't anywhere near my top three choices. +1. Didn't really enjoy Never Go Back as much as I should have. Personal IMO was the worst of the series so far. Make Me was a bit better.

The latest one, Night School, arrived today...please let it be good. I am cautious because its one set back when Reacher was a Military Policeman and none of those have been much good.

I think I just like the idea of Reacher wandering across the USA with just a toothbrush and the clothes he's wearing and staying off the grid. Lee Child is doing a signing in London next week (I think) so I'll tell him what I think. I'm sure he'll take note.

So Arrival last night. Just go and see it. Overheard walking down the stairs on the way out "best I've seen this year". Certainly thought provoking and emotionally powerful, it shut the phoners and wisecrackers up pretty quickly.

Certainly does. I won't go to cramped screenings - I've decent hearing and can't stand the food noises and berks with phones.

Quite fancy seeing that, haven't been able to find anyone else who has any enthusiasm for it at all. Is it the kind of film you need to see on the big screen?

I was wondering that when I came out of the screening. I couldn't say it's essential, but it definitely helps with a few scenes! I'd recommend big screen just in case. I honestly think you'll enjoy it!

Saw Brendan Gleeson last night being interviewed by Timeout/BIFA about his career. Was really good. Sounds like he has a few good films coming out soon HampsteadAssassin's CreedLive by NightAnd one for the kids Paddington 2

Just caught up with Dark Knight Rises and I am puzzled as to why it's got an 8.5 rating on IMDB. I'd give it 5 at best. What am I missing?

You are missing that mainly hard core Batman fans will rate it.

Nothing, it's a turd but nobody wants to admit it after the previous two brought the character back to the mainstream. Overloaded and overblown, the whole thing feels like a mutual favour between director and studio.
