I'm getting all nostalgic! At least 2 of those books are around here somewhere...

I have some modern art books in my home office with pictures of some of these ships.

One of the space stations there was very reminiscent of B5 and was that a Dyson Sphere or just a really large round space station?

The art in those books weren't all specially commissioned. They were usually by fairly young (and therefore cheap) artists. Quite a few are repeated in various books in the series, I am finding.

I was given one of the books when I was a kid by my great aunt who worked in Dillon's in London. Christmas was great when she came round because she always gave my sister and I books (and there was always a Tintin book in with my selection).

I really liked the pictures in that book, and I thought it was a one off until I saw them appearing in charity shops s few years ago. So I'm on the look out for others.
