There seems to be a level of interest in meeting in or around Weymouth in August.

I'm still finalising my plans for the trip, so I'm not going to fix a day or time. However, if you think you might be available some time in the second week of August, in the Jurassic Coast area, pipe up here and we'll see what works out.

Hm, Dorset *might* be doable for me. I'll have to let you know nearer the time though.

I'll still be interested to see what goes down, dates depending :)

Ben, what a pity. Sas, that would be cool if you can make it. Paul, great news.

Best Beloved and I will be staying in the area from 8-16 August.

I think it's too early to make any definite plans for a meet-up, so let's leave it for a couple of weeks and see what we can arrange.

As it's four hundred and something miles, (according to the AA Website) I don't think that driving would be an option* but I'll check the train costs as I might be able to get a cheap fare if I book early enough.

* thinking out loud, and making this up as I go along... unless there is anyone else in or around Manchester that fancies splitting the petrol costs, (and spending a few hours sat in a car with me!)

Obviously this all depends on me getting permission from the boss lady

John, it seems a hell of a way to drive to spend a few hours with almost complete strangers.

While I applaud your commitment, it's not expected that folk will journey vast distances to this meet-up. If you'd like a day by the seaside, that's fine, but it's a very long way to trek for a few beers and maybe a meal.

;)

Given I'm only 10 minutes away – well, 30 to 60 in the Summer – it would seem silly not to try and make it down. Although given the beauty of the rest of Dorset, why you'd want to go to Weymouth, I don't know!

Sas brought it up, so that's the only reason for mentioning it originally. I'm open to suggestions of better venues. Looks like I'm organising this bash now, and you'd be very welcome Tom!

Best Beloved and I will be in Dorset to see my parents, meet up with a friend and do some photosnapticating along the Jurassic Coast - if the weather and grockles are willing - for the week.

Any venues need to have plenty of free parking, access to plain food (I'm not a great fan of spicy stuff) at reasonable prices, and plenty of space for potentially a dozen peeps to sit and natter. I'm open to suggestions from locals. :D

Well my sister does run a very nice pub. I'm currently doing their website, will post a link when it's done!

Only mentioned it as I've got a holiday home in Weymouth so it's easy for me.
Dorchester is very nice though, a few nice bars (& a short bus ride to my sleeping place)

I think I'm up for popping along. It seems I have another friend in Weymouth at the start of August as well.
Might be getting involved in a road trip to Edinburgh at some point, but for now, Weymouth feels more realistic.

I'd love to make it. I don't have anything on at the moment, but I am looking for work.

As it stands, I'll be there what-ever the date/location (so long as I can travel there on the train without it costing me a huge amount).
