I hate gardening, but I do grow a bit of fruit and veg. There was an apple tree when I moved in, and it's absolutely fantastic. They're delicious sweet rosy eating apples, and right now the wasps are eating about half a ton...

I also grow courgettes, because they're easy and so much cheaper than on the market. Over the last two weeks, I've cooked them every way I can think of...

I grow French beans because they're so much tastier than anything you can buy. They're fresh and crisp; perfect in salads and stir fries. I didn't get much of a crop this year, but I did enjoy them.

Tomatoes I don't have so much luck with. I don't have or want a green house, but I still have quite a lot of fruit. I can't stand the hard papery orange things that pass for cheap tomatoes, and the very much nicer on-the-vine ones are so darned expensive that growing your own is worth the small effort.

I can't be bothered with roots or greens, because they're fairly cheap to buy anyway. Maybe when I retire...

I can't give my apples away. My friends either have too much of their own, or they just don't eat fruit. I still have jars of apple I stewed and jammed last year, so most of them are being turned into alcohol. If it ever stops raining, I should get another 5 or 10 gallons of wine on this weekend to go with the cider that's already brewing.

So, do you grow your own? Do you have a green house? And most importantly, what the hell do you do when the entire harvest all arrives in one week and you have enough fruit and veg to feed a small country? Has anyone made courgette liqueur?

One of the main reasons I didn't buy my grandmother's old house was the fact it had plants and hedges, so you can guess where I stand on the issue ;)

I'd really like to grow some stuff next year seeing as my income will be back to that of the basic student loan. Unfortunately we don't have any sort of garden and there is a severe lack of allotment space in Aber (and they are probably expensive anyway :()

There are a few things you can grow in pots on the windowsill or in your porch, like herbs, peppers and chillies.

Oh, I should point out that anything you grow in animal crossing doesn't really count

I'd love to grow my own veg, preferably half-way up Mount Teide in Tenerife, but right now I'm in a flat (well, an "apartment" until they start moving chavs and drug dealers in) with windows that open all of 2 inches thanks to the Health & Safety idiots.

Yes, and a fair amount (well, the Wench does but I do more than my fair share of eating!)

Tomatoes are definitely the highlight, and our greenhouse is pretty much overgrown with them. We also have a fair selection of herbs that sit in various pots and pans down the wall.

Other things include raspberries, potatoes, leeks, onions, cabbage and chard. We also have both a plum tree and a pear tree.

We also get a veg box from a local organic farm, mostly because supermarket veg is rubbish.

The missus grows a few things. Next year she's planning on turning over some of the garden and having a much bigger vegetable plot.
My dad grow tonnes of stuff though.
