Post subject:  Getting to London

I'm booked to attend the Microsoft UK Technical Launch - Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Microsoft Exchange 2010 on the 6th October at Wembley and am trying to decide the best way to get to London.

I really don't fancy driving down there, which leaves either getting the train, the coach or travelling down the night before.

The train would be £22 return, (last nights prices) but I would need to catch it at 05:05

I haven't even looked at coaches yet, as I'm fairly sure they take a lot longer than trains, (it's been a few years since I went on a coach and I may be wrong).

Which leaves coming down the night before... While I don't mind getting up at stupid O'clock to catch a train, a hotel/travel lodge type arrangement does sound easier.

Anybody got any suggestions as to decent, (ie. cheap) places to stay for one night, (the closer to Wembley the better) if I decide not to pursue the train option?

Having said that I'm off to look at coach prices now...

Just checked and I'd have to be at the coach station at 01:30 - and it's about £4.00 chepaer than the train. No thanks!

Thanks.

:D

Go by train, and stay at a Travelodge for a night, won't be more that £50 for both tickets and the room. And tbh, Travelodge rooms aren't all that bad, will be fine for a night. IIRC there's a Lodge near/in the Wembley area.

Or I could go by coach which, whilst being a bit cramped* is a heck of a lot cheaper, at £10 for a return, stop over at saspro's and I could also use the earlier arrival in London as a good excuse to go and visit my aunt and uncle.

* A bit cramped but who cares? I've got a book and an MP3 player which will help pass the time.
