http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-39684530 You can change your vote... I'm gonna have to vote pie here. I'd like to see it go as I believe it's the usual 'keep women down' leftover, and frankly women of every description generally do a bloody good job of that themselves... However, I also believe you should stay true to yourself, even if I personally think religion and it's worst tropes are pure sh1te. I can see far more reasons for getting rid of it than keeping it, but only if we're going the whole hog on religious freedom (or not) across the board. Either way, Nuttall would throw shade at Sesame Street if he thought it would get him a vote, so he can fcuk right off. |

From the article : "But if women want to wear it or they don't, it should be up to the women themselves." Mark |

As long as they choose to, and are not bullied into wearing them. |

Yes and no. As Mark and L3v1ck have said, it should be the woman's choice, as long as it is a free choice. On the other hand, if they go into places where headgear that covers the face are not allowed (banks, service stations etc.) then the same rules should apply to them as everyone else - so either everybody should be allowed to wear headgear or nobody. The same for border controls. |

If they want to wear one, fine. Although, I'd be interested to know how many would choose to when not subject to cultural pressure. |

I would probably ban burqas and niqabs if I were going to ban anything. I don't mind about other forms of headcoverings as you can see the face. Even in hospitals, you can get sterile covers that cover your hair and head (though leave the face exposed, which is then covered by theatre mask and eyeshield). I think women should be allowed to wear what they want but for some women they will be repressed into wearing a full burqa or niqab whereas others do so out of choice. The problem is distinguishing between the two. |

+1 from me (I voted pie) I am against banning anything as a point of principle (but accept that something need to be banned) so generally I have no issues with them but if I have to take my M/C helmet off in places (e.g. Banks) then they should be forced to take off their burka's |

Didn't one of the London underground bombers flee the country using a burhka as a disguise? In any case I agree with hifi, in general people should be able to wear whatever they like but the authorities should be able to identify people when necessary and that includes removal of anything that covers the face. If necessary it should be accounted for in the same way 'stop and search' is accounted for, with significant disciplinary measures if used inappropriately. |

i voted no to a ban but the same rules must apply across the board equally. removal of it when entering any place that requires you to remove a crash helmet ... |
