yesterday my wife's pension paid out and all debts and outstanding balances of all and every kind were completely paid.
no debt of any kind whatsoever in any way shape or form.

we have also paid for everything to fully decorate the whole house top to bottom over the next 2 or 3 weeks including the garden.

I've taken 4 weeks unpaid holiday from work (they didn't like that one bit) but ho hum.

what a very good feeling, my pension pays out in July, maybe a holiday and a new part time job for myself on the cards ...

I'm also totally and completely 100% debt free.
It's a nice feeling isn't it?

Nice one.

I'd love to be debt free. Mortgages are a killer, but it'll be worth in in the long run.

Things have been very variable for the last couple of years.

*Crosses all the digits* I get the keys for my place on Friday, bought for cash after 16 years of saving.

I was only able to do that by; living in the family home with people who need shot dead, not driving, or having any habits bar the Coca Cola and in later years 'toys'.

Mother dearest really came through (she was never 'on the list'); sofa set, bed, kettle, toaster, bed linen...

A friend is even buying me a chocolate Labrador :D

Being debt free is a hell of a thing is what I'm trying to say, and I'm actually gonna owe said friend a few thousand over the next three months. Without interest. Realistically that only happened because I'm always good to my friends. And it's not even a problem, cos I've had all of this planned for years. It's merely a safety net.

That was rambling even for me...

Congrats guys. Being debt free would be nice.
Ernie - do you know how much food Labs eat? Your debt free status won't last long
Suffice to say, there will need to be dog pictures once your new best buddy has arrived.

I don't technically have any debt, other than students loans (which I'll never have to pay back given the pay where I currently work :x ).
Having said that, I'd rather have a mortgage than pay rent.

The dog will be around me, it'll definitely be well fed! Plus my grandfather used to breed and train dogs so I've got a good grounding thank fcuk.

The thing that I noticed most of all was that my bank balance started getting embarrassing and I've had to start moving money to savings accounts now that all my other insurance policies are paying out.
What with pensions and disability stuff, I can actually afford to do nothing and still spend a bit.

Ernie, hearty congratulations on managing to buy a house as a cash purchase.
I too would like a chocolate coloured Lab. but there's things standing in the way of that at the moment; we're renting and can't have pets, and the good lady wife-to-be would rather have an Airedale Terrier than a Labradoggy.
We've decided that when the time comes, we'll just go to the kennels and see what we see.
Also, my debt-free status won't be lasting very much longer I don't think.
It was imposed on me by bankruptcy and I need to start working on my credit rating if we are to get a mortgage like we want to in a couple of years.
