A study to see if people can detect manipulated images - you see 10 images and have to decide whether they are manipulated or not and if so, where you think the manipulation was.

According to the original article (German) on Heise.de, most people cannot tell if photos are manipulated... As we have a lot of photography enthusiasts on this forum, I thought it might be of interest...

I got 8 out of 10. Quite pleased with that as many of them looked like green screen shots to me.

I don't really know what it proves.

Every photo I take or scan I make will have had some "manipulation" done to it whether it is simply cropping out unwanted portions at the edge of the photograph or removing dust and other marks caused by the scanning process. Or a little bit of curves adjustment to make it look as though the photo was taken in better lighting conditions than what was available at the time.

The study is to find out if (normal) people can spot manipulated images (shadow changes, removed or added objects etc.)
