Anyone listening to this? It]s the new series of the Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Part of me wonders if it’s worth continuing with. Episode One seemed to be so preoccupied with explaining stuff that may have happened in previous stories and using “key phrases” so that the fans don’t forget it’s what they are listening to, and not just a bunch of random stuff thrown together that it seemed to be looking in the corners with a torch hoping to find a reason to be. I’ll try episode 2 tomorrow in the hope that it picks up, but, boy... Also the voices are wrong. Marvin is wrong. John Lloyd is the narrator, and he has such a flat tone of voice, with barely any inflection or rhythm that this is enough to make me turn off. Previous narrators had an interesting rhythm of speech, used inflection and pauses for comedic value. So far, not that impressed. I understand the book it is based on is not that good either. |
