Amstrad went on to make Spectrums with disk drives and tape desks built in, and eventually puts the Spectrum into the eMailer phone, with a monochrome display.

Meanwhile, Sir Clive carries on with electric vehicles, and releases an under appreciated portable computer under the Cambridge Computers brand. After that, he kind of slips into obscurity, surfacing every now and then with more electric vehicle concepts which never really catch on.
