Last posted around Xmas 2017 and not spotted him on here since. Does anyone know if he's okay? Thought he might be bisy with his new house and stuff.

I sent him a DM at the end of March and got a reply.
He just seemed really busy with stuff.
He said he'd try to check the boards but I guess he did and there was nothing worthwhile replying to, or he just forgot/didn’t have time.

Thanks . I thought it'd be something like that. Ernie was one of the most prolific posters on here and suddenly he went very quiet.

Yes, I was wondering what had happened to him.

While we're asking about absentees, has anyone heard from AlunD? I did try sending him a pm some time ago, but he hasn't replied. I know he wasn't well, so fingers crossed he's OK.

*Really wishes he could make a dramatic entrance*

Hi, folks!

I'm absolutely fine, it's just that life got in the way... New house and an adorable labrador who takes up way more time and space than I imagined! He's not even that big but enjoys sleeping sideways wherever he can :)

Anyway, I hope you're all OK. I'd love to say I'll be on here more frequently but I find that after work it's

Dinner
Walk the dog
Put up more shelves
Watch Netflix
Order even more geeky stuff

Will do, though tonight was a perfect example of why I haven't; found out my fridge socket was also wired into a socket in the living room. Luckily only the fridge socket died and nothing else!

Whoever put this house together... I'll catch up with them in this life or the next

WB pcernie.
I know the feeling of finding out about bodge jobs around the house. The previous owner of my house was a clearly a fan of silicone sealant and used it everywhere - radiators, tap connections etc. The wiring was inspected about 10 years ago when they did an extension. Doesn't stop the weird things I keep finding.

Just found we've been living with asbestos around the boiler flue for 2.5 years...

FFS, I assume it isn't broken? Don't suppose any house insurance would cover removal if need be?

No, not broken thankfully. We've had specialists in and it is being removed very shortly. The set-up involved is like something out of a sci-fi movie isolation scene.

Hear ya, where I live there's quite a bit of knowledge about it because of the shipyard... all learned the hard way.
