Post subject:  Excitement at Pond Cottage HQ
Just had a call from my boyfriend and a sparrowhawk has grabbed one of the baby birds from our chinmey breast and was trying to take it away. It's dropped the baby on our conservatory roof with a loud bang and then on the decking. My boyfriend came out and tried to scare it off but the sparrowhawk kept coming back trying to get the baby.

The baby is now sitting in the middle of our tomato plants and he's trying to calm it down. Poor little mite is panting and looks all ruffled. Mum and Dad are on the TV ariel watching the baby.

It all happens in our garden!

PS Pond Cottage is the nickname for my house :)

This is the natural in all it’s wondrous diverse glory and beauty. No space for tears and emotions. Nature just does not care.

The sparrowhawk is certainly rarer than what it wanted to eat. You should be thrilled to have such a bird in your garden!

Right, I'm off to slaughter a cute little lamb. I shall be eating his liver with fava beans and a nice Chianti.

Mmmm birds of prey :)

I remember a few years back when i had chickens in my back garden. One day a Peregrine Falcon swooped down and clean bit one of their heads off.... then flew into the chicken mesh and injured itself. Wasnt a pretty sight :roll:

I have a friend who freaks out at the idea of someone slaughtering a lamb, but has no problem ordering a lamb shank at Franky & Benny's. :roll:

Well the baby fully recoveed and our cats did not bother it while it was sitting amongst the tomatoes.

We're getting all sorts of wildlife in the garden since it was done up. Had a pheasant sitting on the lawn for a while a couple of months ago and we get lots of foxes.

My Mum regularly gets geese using her lawn as a chill out area. It's been nice seeing all the babies grow up over the summer.
