Had a training course yesterday and some colleagues mentioned that they were receiving Spam mails.

I contacted our service provider and they said they had solved the problem...

Got in this morning to find that 100% of e-mails had been marked as spam and rejected! (Inocming and outgoing)

But none of the users had reported that their emails were being rejected or that they weren't receiving emails! Gah! Only after an hour working on the problem did the calls start coming in... :(

Ouch man!

Our uni has a pretty strict spam filter, and then sends me an email every time it blocks a spam message. As a result I have hundreds of emails a day saying "yeah we're amazing, we just blocked some spam".

Sorry man but that's fecking hilarious.

Could you not filter those messages to a folder, not mark them as read and so have a counter on how many spam messages you get AND a clear inbox.

Just a thought.
