Hardly news worthy if the odds are only a million to one. I bet that many Golden Delicious are eaten in this country every week or two. We should see this on a regular basis then...

Given that I've never seen it before I would say that makes it news worthy. :)

Also, for some reason, I initially mis-read your post as...

I bet that many Golden Wonder are eaten in this country every week or two.

And that got me thinking... Does he means packets, or individual crisps?

Hmmm. coffee time. ;)

I've not seen any Golden Delicious (what a spectacularly inept title for a green sack of crunchy nothingness) in the stores for ages.

Definitely Braeburns. Without question.

We're having to eat Pink Ladies this week, because Morrisons has decreed they will only stock locally-sourced apples at the mo.

Yes, but there is also an interesting scene in Guards! Guards! where the watchmen are trying to kill the dragon, and they discuss the importance of the odds.

"a million-to-one chance, but it just might work" - sounds right
"a 947361-to-one chance, but it just might work" - not a hope

Therefore, it will only work if the odds are PRECISELY 1,000,000 to one.

Pink Lady apples were being handed out free in the town centre a few months back. That was rather nice.
