Windows 7 RC

god wrote:
Today (April 30) the RC is available to MSDN subscribers and TechNet Plus subscribers.

On Tuesday, May 5 (PST), the RC will be available to everyone via our Customer Preview Program. As with the Beta, the Windows 7 RC Customer Preview Program is a broad public program that offers the RC free to anyone who wants to download it. It will be available at least through June 30, 2009, with no limits on the number of downloads or product keys available.

So, who's got it and who's waiting 'till Tuesday like me with baited breath!?

Depends if it’s an air brick or not, I suppose.

i was just about to reinstall the beta, totally forgot about the RC

are there any major changes beta > RC, or is it just bug-crunching?

The technet version includes the new 'XP in a VM' mode.

I was talking to someone at MS UK on Friday who was running it perfectly happily on a Samsung NC-10. No way on Earth Vista would run usably on that.

Had a look at the specs. Doesn't look like it'd run on a centrino 1.6Ghz 512MB (supposed to be 1GB) 333MHz RAM, 64MB ATi Radeon 9700 gfx 15.4" widescreen laptop.

Hmm. I thought it was supposed to be lighter than Vista? Vista will run on that set-up (only "needs" 1GB RAM if you have shared graphics)... :?

I might give it a blast anyway once I get a new memory stick (old one was duff hence only 512MB). Think the graphics side might let things down.

I’ll have to upgrade Parallels for me to run it. Can it be installed on a fresh partition, or does it have to go over a current install?

Hmm. good point. You could only use the beta to 'upgrade' Vista, not XP. You could install it from scratch on a 'fresh' drive though.

Got it last week at work :)

The media player streaming remote is pretty cool (uses live logins) but haven't used it yet

Other than that no major tweaks I have seen, aside from being able to change log on screen :D

Lovely on 64bit with programming apps, makes me jealous of the guys at work with their new machines (Intel i7 quad cores + 12gb ram!!!!)
