How would I go about increasing the size of packets sent using the ping command?

in windows it is -l

i.e. ping -l 256 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

will ping 256 bytes

ping -l 512 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

will ping 512 bytes.

Hmm... maybe you did not just mean that but the packet size i.e. the minimum block of data size.

That way I you could set the size of the ping with -l and then use -f to stop fragmentation of the data into smaller packets.

i.e. ping -l 512 -f xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

will ping 512bytes of data in a single packet.
