Just as a point of interest to those debating politics, I thought you would be interested to know the origin on the term “left wing” and “right wing”. It stems from the French Revolution, where monarchists would sit on the fight hand side of the French parliament. Those on the Left would support the republic.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right_wing

Quote:
The phrase right-wing was coined during the French Revolution, refering to seating arrangements in parliament; those who sat on the right supported the monarchy, the aristocracy and the established church. The concept of a distinct political Right developed after the second restoration of the French monarchy in 1815 with the Ultra-royalists.

Just an interesting little snippet of information to add to the pot.

So, at the moment we have Labour on slightly left of centre and the Tories and BNP on the far right, with Scumeron waiting in the wings to bring us some sugar-coated fascism! Joy.

It’s a worrying trend, and sadly people are so disillusioned with NuLabor that they will jump ship to the Tories just for the change. With The Sun endorsing them too…

Oh- Fascism loves the surveillance of their populations too. I bet Hitler would have loved the idea of a centralised database, being able to track citizens via their cars and mobile phones.
