Because sometimes it's better than Times New Roman.

I now need to go for some reprogramming to clear my head's font caches

There's no way I could justify spending ages trying to Letraset my plans with this stuff

Times New Roman was a favourite of the bosses though :(

It's all Microsoft's fault for choosing such crap default fonts.

Good video.
The use of it in familiar logos certainly raised some interesting points. I was particularly amused when none of the folk they asked thought it had much of an impact on the Starbucks or Facebook logs.

Not being a typographer some of the issues about CS whizz over the top of my head but I certainly find I'm not a big fan when certain folk compose long e-mails using it. For some reason it comes across similar to when folk type all in capitals. They also seem incapable of just sticking with black as the colour.

The vast majority of type at work is in Time New Roman and Arial. I occasionally try to sneak Helvetica into things I'm doing myself but all the report templates are set using TNR/A so that's what is used most of the time.
I think I can safely say that nobody is likely to suggest we use CS for our scientific reports.

I printed some prep work my sister did ready for the kids she teaches. I commented about her choice of Comic Sans - apparently it's the schools policy to use it for all their hand outs etc.

Yeah. My mum is a teacher and it's true for her too.

I asked her why she was using it and she said it's because it's "the best, because it's easier for people with dyslexia". I pushed her on it and she revealed that it's policy to use comic sans.

::EDIT::

She teaches adults btw

Is there anyone we can hire who can write a virus or something that infects CS so it's just totally borked?

Thing is, there are cases recorded in the USA that kids can only read Comic Sans and find other fonts hard if not impossible to read because they have not been exposed to them.

My wife is a college lecturer and she gave me the same reason for using CS... Not on ALL of the handouts though.

Thinking about it, I also used to work for a guy in one of the local councils, (I think it was Warrington) who used it for all of his emails. When I asked why he simply replied "Because I like it". So there you go!

Comic Sans has its place, in comics, but it is over used and I find it very hard to read, to be honest.

General text, headlines etc. are easier to read in a good Sans Serif or something like Times, but Comic Sans is incredibly hard to read, I have to re-read it two or three times, if it uses more than two or three words.
