Hi, it’s been a while since Woolworths collapsed. Many stores are still empty. Some aren’t. What’s happened to your local Woolworths shell?
Ours has been broken into smaller units. We’ll be having a branch of The Entertainer and Lakeland soon - both fill the gap left by Woolworths both physically and in a retail fashion too. They may actually do the job better, to be honest (toys and household stuff). We still have a chunk of the vacant unit left (I reckon half is now left). It’s good that the high street is recovering, and both stores opening means jobs for some.

There's one in the North East that's turned into Saver Mart or something like that... the contents look exactly like as if it is a Woolworths...

The one in Truro has been converted into two smaller shops, one of which is "Poundland".
Not sure what's happened to the one on Albany Road in Cardiff, haven't been down there in a while.

Ours has become a Poundland too. Hmm, I wonder if Poundland were able to buy up a load of the old Woolies stores for £1? I like the one in Dorset that was bought by the store manager and turned into "Wellworths" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wellworths_(GB)

Ours is still empty though there is a beautifully opportunistic pick & mix stall outside the shutters.

Torquay and Totnes - still empty, AFAIK. Mind you, so's the former Dixons store in Torquay. There's an awful lot of empty units on the high street at the moment. Ghost town? Maybe.

There's a bunch of closed units in our local shopping centre too, so what did the centre's management do? Spent a small fortune upgrading the car park and installing utterly self-defeating black glass all around a pointless cylinder entrance... Wonder why tenants decided the rent wasn't worth it anymore, eh? The situation's that bad even Tesco are rumoured to be quitting it

Ours in Rawtenstall is now an Ethel Austin.

the one in bridlington is now a discount-mart, i walked through it once to get to the beach, and i shall not enter it again. one time through the sugar puffs aisle is quite enough driffield woolies is still empty, im quite glad the poundland pikeys havent moved in, our towns population is scummy enough without instant access to cheap chinese goods and cut-price home DIY tools infact, im fairly sure we have that covered already by the joy that is Yorkshire Trading >.<

The Aber one is a Poundland. The one back home in Melksham is still empty, it's thought a Weatherspoons might go in... Carmarthen is something like a KwikSave...

Wrexham one is still empty (I think), Chester one is a Primark, I think, don't go into either town if I can help it and more or less live in between them.
