We've started using Linux on some of the PCs here. How to we set it up so it gives you the option to choose Linux or Windows every boot up? Ta in advance. Carolyn |

You want to use a non-Microsoft Bootloader, such as GRUB. Most distros installers will set up one for you, if Windows is installed first. |

What version of Linux is it? Normally if you install Linux when Windows is already on the machine then it will automatically configure GRUB for you to give you dual-boot. If not you can install Windows after the event and use a tool like EasyBCD from NeoSmart. Can you give us an indication of how the machines are set up? I.e. which OSes are installed/not installed and in what order? Also, are you using GRUB or the Windows MBR? |

Windows was already on the machine and it was the latest version of ubuntu and it did the boot thing automatically but now it's not always popping up and boots from linux automatically |

You only get about 10 seconds to choose which OS to boot into. Change it to about 30 seconds or so: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/ubuntu/c ... on-ubuntu/ e.g. change timeout from "10" to "30". Save and exit. |

you can not configure grub on Ubuntu 9.10 as it uses grub V2 along with ext4FS as default on a clean install … am still testing the work arounds … |
