Day off today, so checked my snail mail a little while ago and I find a letter from Natwest saying I've gone overdrawn on my bills account. That nevers happens, so I go online to find a D/D from Orange for £412! I ring Orange to shout at them for their mistake (I'm SIM only, so £30/mth buys me 1200 minutes. Ample.). I then find that in fact I've gone 1000 minutes over my allowance and the bill is genuine. Worse still, last months was £300. I'm still in shock tbh. £700 that I don't have - gone. Forever. The retentions team have sorted me out with an additional 1000 minutes, to 2200 and dropped the monthly fee to £25. And whilst that's possibly the best contract deal ever in the world, it doesn't fix my immediate problem. Christmas (along with everything else) is cancelled.

I don't know if you can do the same with Orange but with O2 you can send them a text and they text back with how many minutes you have left. Sorry to hear your bad news. 1000 minutes over is a lot of chatting!
Christmas for me is cancelled too unless a miracle happens. Luckily Mum is going to chip in for £100 for food as we are eating together on Xmas day and she's too old to do a lot of traipsing about.

Man, I thought that the couple of £100 level bills I had were bad. That's really bad.

Bad news man. It's just a shame I can't transfer some of my minutes to you (not sure Vodafone would allow it) as I never use my full allowance + another 1 for cancelling Christmas Al

I never use mine either. Think I have 10 hours a month. I only text, don't like talking on the phone. I've got to dislike it as I've gotten older.

What’s wrong with having a PAYG phone? That way you know how much credit you have left, and you can’t overrun.
I am off monthly contract phones now. Seemed to be a disaster waiting to happen, and I’m saving money every month as a result!

I know. I did. I use it as a phone, but for other things a lot too. £35 per month is too much, and when I bought the phone it was with money I had saved up for the purpose.

Jesus wept! I only get 900 minutes (only! lol) and I've come close to going over, but never have. What do you use your phone for?

You pay for it on contract as well. The cost of the phone is recuperated through the inflated cost of the contract. Oki: Bad luck dude

In another thread I believe he said he'd just met a girl, so I'm guessing long conversations to eachother are the culprit. Mark
