So me and the doris have split. I have found a 2 bed flat to move to which has a pay as you go type setup with gas and electric. I have never used these before. It seems a pricey way to pay but at least no scary bills. I understand it will vary depending on the supplier and other variables but can anyone give me a rough idea how much a week/month I can expect?

Its is 2 bed flat, gas central heating and hot water. There is an electric cooker, tv, hifi, computers running almost 24/7, washing machine (no dryer), fridge freezer etc etc. Doubt I will use the heating except when the boy comes to stay so hopefully save a bit there.

Thanks

Don’t run the computers 24/7. That will keep costs down.

In fact run them as little as possible, and use a laptop rather than a desktop if you can.

I lived in a 1-bed flat last year. It was the first time I had to pay for things like council tax etc.
My bills over 12 months:
Electricity: £240 (£60/quarter for winter months, £30/quarter for summer)
Gas: £400 (though I used radiators to dry clothes; thermostat was otherwise on 12*C)
Water: £120
Sewage: Can't recall
Council Tax: £700

Remember, this is me being as fairly careful - only things that were on permanently were alarm clock, fridge and freezer. Everything else was turned on for the amount of time necessary. Gas could have been cheaper if I hadn't dried clothes on the radiators.

We used to pay about 50p a day on a prepay meter, but that was six years ago when prices were much lower.

I had one in my 3 bed split level flat when I moved in. I think we spent about £10 a week on each (which for some reason seems cheaper than our current bills)

Thanks for the replies. As for computers running 24/7, I mentioned that as worse case scenario and also due to the fact they will be the things using the leccy more than owt else. I have lived in houses without central heating for most of my life so wont miss it, in fact, I dont like it. Probaly be proper cheeky and do all my washing and drying when I go round to see the boy ;)
