CNet describes Channel 4’s 3D output for next week.

http://crave.cnet.co.uk/televisions/0,3 ... m?s_cid=98

At time of writing, they describe Derren Brown thus:

Quote:
Derren Brown Presents the 3D Magic Spectacular
Monday 16 November 10pm
The nation's favourite piss-artist Derren Brown will compere a show full of magic tricks and illusions in 3D.

I'll definitely be watching and will have to nip down to Sainsbury's ASAP. I've seen Flesh For Frankenstein before and its a very odd film that will be much improved in 3D. I just hope Channel 4's method is an improvement on the red/green glasses you get with DVDs.

This is the system being used:

Not bad, but some of their examples are not as convincing as others. Whatever you think of 3D TV - you will always have to wear silly goggle until they get proper 3D from the screen sorted.

3D glasses are being handed out at Sainsbury's and with Sainsbury's Internet shopping. Channel 4 also suggests the strongest effect will be achieved if you set your TV to 16:9 ratio and colour settings to 'neutral' or 'cinema'. Analogue signal will be in 3D, but the effect will not be as strong as from a digital set-top box such as cable, Sky or Freeview. Finally, turn down your lights and sit as face-on to the telly as possible, at least 1.5m (5ft) away. If you enjoy Channel 4's 3D week, don't forget to let us know.

How many people are actually using analogue these days? How many people will actually know about the recommendations above?

I've got some spare sets of the glasses if you can't get a pair; I could post them in time for next week.

Anyone watching this? I’m watching the programme about the Queen in 3D and finding it works in places, but fails to convince a lot more.

Yeah, it kinda works, but all I did was turn the light out without actually adjusting the TV*, and I don't think you're actually supposed to be watching it on a Freeview signal, so... ;)

* I knew I'd never have the patience to get it back to 'just so'

The 3D effect was OK once I turned all other light sources off. Nothing to write home about, and it made my eyes feel funny, but a good effort by C4.

I'd like to see them broadcast a polarising 3D show that works on the population's TVs.
